In the current world, thousands of apps are published online every day. Not every app is helpful; some are built to steal data from your device. Therefore, we need to know which apps are helpful and which ones are not. There are a few types of apps you should try not to install on your device because they can hack your device and take your important information, like banking details, social media information, and your personal photos. In this article, we will discuss a few types of apps you should try not to install.
1. Fake Antivirus Apps
If you go to the Play Store and search for an antivirus, you will find a lot of them. But does every antivirus help you? No, most antivirus apps are not helpful. Most of them try to steal your data and only show a lot of ads.
How to find which one is fake and which one is real?
It is a common question to ask which one is better. In the current app world, it is really hard to say, but if your installed app wants unwanted permissions, shows a lot of ads, and gives false virus alerts, then it is 100% a fake antivirus. Try to uninstall or remove the application.
2. Unknown App Downloaders
We download a lot of apps from unknown places, like modded apps for extra functions. But if you download those apps, they can steal your data and send it to hackers. Because those apps are built by unknown people, they can do anything with the app file. So, try to install apps from well-known platforms or the Play Store.
3. Fake Cleaner Apps
If you look online, there are millions of apps that promise to clean your RAM or ROM with one click and make your mobile super fast. This type of app does not make your mobile super fast; it makes your device super laggy and slow. Also, this type of app shows a lot of ads all the time. If an app shows ads even when you are not using it, most of the time, this app is not helping your device.
4. Modified or Unofficial Apps
We see a lot of apps that need a subscription or require payment to use, like photo editing applications, games, and OTT platforms. So, other developers modify those applications and make them free. However, a few developers also add extra code which can hack your device and get access to it. Modified applications carry a high risk of containing malware and can also get your user account banned.
5. Fake Cryptocurrency Applications
Online, we can see a lot of fake or modified applications of famous cryptocurrencies. Try not to install this type of application, as it will damage your device or steal your main cryptocurrency wallet information. On the internet, I read a lot of articles about hackers hacking cryptocurrency wallet information and stealing all the crypto.
Now you might have a few questions: if you already installed this type of application, what should you do?
- First, try to remove or uninstall this type of application.
- Change all your account passwords.
- Add 2-step verification.
- If possible, format your entire device, or try to look for unnecessary apps in your application manager. Find the ones you did not download and uninstall those applications if possible.
Conclusion: Stay Safe, Stay Smart
Your digital safety is completely in your hands. Hackers and malicious developers rely on carelessness to steal your data. By staying vigilant, sticking to official app stores like the Google Play Store, and avoiding the temptation of free "modded" premium apps, you can keep your personal information completely secure.
